Tanzania to Host 2025 World Travel Awards for Africa and Indian Ocean
Tanzania has earned the prestigious honor of hosting the 2025 World Travel Awards (WTA) Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony, which will take place on June 28, 2025, in Dar es Salaam. This global recognition reinforces Tanzania’s status as a leading travel and tourism destination in Africa.
The announcement was officially made by Ephraim Balozi-Mafuru, the Director-General of the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB). He described the opportunity as a significant milestone and a major boost for the country’s tourism industry, branding the event as a key platform to showcase Tanzania’s top-rated tourist attractions.
Often referred to as the “Oscars of the travel industry,” the WTA gala is expected to attract over 1,000 key players in tourism from more than 30 African nations, shining an international spotlight on Tanzania’s hospitality sector, national parks, and cultural destinations.
In 2024, Tanzania won several top World Travel Awards, including:
-
Best Safari Destination in Africa
-
Best National Park – Serengeti
-
Best Tourist Attraction – Mount Kilimanjaro
This year, Tanzanians and travel lovers worldwide are encouraged to vote for Tanzania’s nominated attractions by visiting the official voting portal at www.worldtravelawards.com/vote. Voting helps secure these international honors and promotes Tanzania as the ultimate African travel experience.
With its breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and rich cultural heritage, Tanzania stands ready to welcome the world in 2025.
